In this class the students will learn how to enhance their pictures using a digital imaging program. They will learn the steps of how to crop, brighten, lighten, and generally clean up their pictures for a better presentation. The program used is Corel’s PaintShop Pro. Students will also learn how to properly scan their old photographs so they can be enhanced. In this class students will learn more about using text with their images, working with layers, straightening pictures, and using scripts to create a variety of different presentations such as color sketch or charcoal sketch of their pictures. We will also work on restoring old pictures and learn how to take someone out of a picture and put them on another picture. We will continue learning techniques to restore old photographs and learn how to create a collage with several of your pictures.

Are you interested in improving your photographs by learning some simple techniques using your camera’s built-in flash or using an external flash? In this class you will learn when to use your flash and how to use it to enhance your photography. You will learn to use a flash to take natural looking pictures of people and to use fill flash for more natural looking everyday photography. We will demonstrate how to use your flash in portraits, group photography and everyday photos. You will have a chance to practice these techniques. Students need to have their camera with a full battery, an empty memory card, the camera manual and a note pad. If you own an external flash, bring it to class.

In this introductory course to Adobe’s Photoshop Elements program, we will learn to use the tools of this program to do basic photo editing including adjusting lighting and color, cropping, cloning and spot healing, red eye removal, and many other techniques. We will also discuss photo considerations prior to printing or sharing, introduction to layers, converting images to black and white, enhancing and restoring old photos, adding text, using brushes, graphics, adjustment layers, templates, guided edits, filters and special effects, and a demonstration of how this program can create cards, calendars, slide shows, collages and photo books.
